Set goals, connect what you already own, and see if you're keeping pace.
Give it a name, category, target date, and amount. For goals far out, enter the target in today's money and we'll estimate what you'll need by the date. Add a starting balance for cash that lives outside Portfolio Tracker.
If you track holdings in Portfolio Tracker, open the Link Investments tab on a goal and pick what counts toward it. Live values flow into your saved amount automatically. Each holding can only be linked to one goal.
In Expense Tracker, edit a Savings, Investment, Retirement, or FIRE line and allocate it to a goal. When you mark the line Done, the amount is logged here as a contribution. Savings always adds to balance. If the goal already has portfolio links, Investment, Retirement, and FIRE lines can still tag the goal but will not add to balance twice.
Tap + on a goal card, use Bulk on the Goals tab when you split one deposit, or open a goal and add entries in History. Expense Tracker can post contributions for you when linked lines are marked Done.
Insights shows combined progress, which goals need attention, and whether your monthly plan fits the savings capacity you set in Settings.
Tap a card for overview, contribution history, the actual vs planned chart, and milestones. Linked Portfolio Tracker holdings show on the overview and on the holding rows in Portfolio Tracker.
A few habits that keep your goals honest and your numbers in sync.
Set monthly savings capacity in Settings early. Insights uses it to flag when goals ask for more than you can realistically put aside.
For long timelines, enter targets in today's money and let inflation adjust the planning number. Use future value only when you've already accounted for inflation yourself.
If you use Portfolio Tracker, link holdings instead of copying balances by hand. Update the portfolio and the goal moves with it.
Remember one investment, one goal. If two goals need the same fund, pick the one it truly belongs to.
In Expense Tracker, link Savings lines to a goal so Done amounts become contributions. For goals backed by portfolio links, Investment, Retirement, and FIRE lines can still tag the goal but won't add to balance twice.
Log contributions when they happen. Pace status and the chart only reflect what you actually record.
When one paycheck funds several goals, use bulk contribute instead of entering the same deposit four times.
Keep expected returns modest (around 6-10% for a mixed portfolio). Optimistic returns make required SIPs look smaller than they are.
